THE CAUSE

Cashmere is obtained from the undercoat of cashmere goats, and is considered a valuable fibre due to its intricate harvesting process. The undercoat acts as a warming shield for goats,  making the breed vulnerable to cold climate conditions as they are stripped of their fur. Additionally, cashmere wool is harvested mainly in Mongolia and China, oftentimes encompassing unfavourable working conditions for harvesters. The harvest of cashmere is increasingly elaborate and produced in masses, which results in further devastations of ecosystems and natural resources. Therefore, our association engages in the preservation and recycling of this precious fibre in order to minimize the environmental and social impacts that the harvest poses.  Moreover, as opposed to harvesting from herds of goats, fibres are collected from corporations, manufacturers, and consumers, in order to promote and favorise a circular economic model that considers and values all living beings. In short, we are engaging in a forward-thinking production method: Using what has already been produced to recycle in favour of all stakeholders involved. Applying such techniques will enable the reduction of waste of a precious raw material.
